Cute quirks

Michael has been doing this really cute thing when he is taking his bottle. At night, we dress him in his pj's, then sit in the glider and give him a bottle before he dozes off. Anyway, while he is eating, he reaches up and scratches the top of his head until he gets really drowsy, and falls asleep. Not sure why he does it, but I have heard that babies will do this type of thing as a comfort. I think it's cute. He will sometimes drop his hand from the top of his head and play with his ear too. He will grab the top of his ear and flop it back and forth. Just thought I would share this, before he stops doing it and moves on to something else!

Sitting, Crawling, and Teeth

Michael is finally sitting on his own! He has been pretty wobbly for the past couple weeks, but this weekend, he was sitting by himself without us holding on to him. He still does topple over sometimes though. But that usually happens when he is trying to grab for something way out of his reach, or if he gets really excited about something and waves his arms like crazy and falls backwards. He is trying to crawl now too. He can get his knees bent underneath him, and lift up on his arms like a push-up. But when he pushes forward with his legs, he hasn't learned to bring a hand forward, so he ends up doing a nose dive in the carpet! As for teeth - none yet! We thought he was teething a couple of different times, but all we got was a bunch of drool and crankiness, with no toofers!

Father's Day

Mike had a great Father's Day! We had our traditional Sunday morning breakfast, but we went to Cracker Barrel instead of Bob Evans this time. Then we went to lunch at Hacienda with my dad. After stopping home for a brief nap & feeding (for little Michael), we visited his parents, and said good-bye to Uncle Bill & Aunt Ursula before they returned home to Germany. We enjoyed dinner at home, which was Mike's wish, and ended the day with a DQ ice cream cake! Michael gave daddy a new digital camera for Father's Day, which is small enough to fit in his pocket, to use for taking photographs of his landscapes, or whatever his heart desires!

Keeping busy

Mike is still keeping pretty busy with the new business, but has managed to still get out and golf a few times. He was really afraid that our budget and his time wouldn't allow him to endulge in his passion for golf, but things have been going well enough for him to be able to. He has projects lined up through the end of July and early August, with a few more bids in to hopefully take him through the end of summer and into fall clean ups. His first Father's Day is this weekend, and we will be sure to share all the festivities next week.

Eye Dr. Appt

Everything went as expected at this last visit to the eye doctor. MJ's vision is not affected by the droopy eyelid, therefore, there is no need for any type of necessary surgery to correct it. However, if we decide that we would want to correct the eyelid just for cosmetic reasons, the doctor suggested waiting until he is at least 2 years old, and then we would go to a surgeon in Ft. Wayne. The doctors locally do not generally work with small children, so that is why we would have to go there. But the surgery would be elective, unless the lid is actually affecting his eyesight. At this point, we are not planning on doing it, until he is old enough to make that decision for himself. If it doesn't bother him, we'll leave it alone. He doesn't have to go back to the for another check up until December.

Big Boy Car Seat

This weekend we graduated Michael to a big boy car seat. No more infant carrier! That means he also graduated to a highchair when we go out to eat at restaurants! We went to Bob Evan's for breakfast & Stacy's at Eagle Lake for dinner, and he did great both times! Our little boy is growing so fast!
